Well. Now I know what a caber, stone put, hammer throw represent. Bottom line is those Scottish dudes were merciless in their attempts to show off. Throwing stones, and tree trunks seems odd however they had their place in history I can imagine. These guys also had the gumption to play bagpipes at these affairs and clearly drank a whole lot of Scotch along the way. A good clear look at what the Highland Games were, and are today. An appreciation one can offer to anyone capable of throwing tree trunks, very large rocks, and doing this while wearing a skirt. Amazing.Product details

Scottish Highland Games A Brief History and the Main Events (Audible Audio Edition) Gary McKraken Daniel Penz Hiccius Doccius Limited Books Reviews
This book is aptly titled, as it's a delightful little gem describing the various games and activities experienced at Highland Games around the globe. Daniel Penz's narration was excellent. His soft Scottish brogue was perfect for this audio and really set the stage for imagining that you are in northern Scotland. I definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys attending Celtic and Irish Festivals!
Sorry,my it this pamphlet on the Highland Games wasn't worth the time to read. Historical information is vague, inaccurate, and in dire need of citations. Descriptions of the games are also too vague.
Looks like this was whipped up in a hurry. You can find much more in depth information with a simple Internet search.
2 stars simply because there were no glaring typos.
book is okay, not a subject I'm very interested in. probaly worn't finish book.
superficial not worth the time
I have learn so much from this book about the Scottish highland games. Thanks for writing this book enjoyed reading it.
For a "brief history" of the games, it does have some interesting fun facts.
I found the book very interesting and had no idea that these games have such a strong following and have been in existence for so long in Scotland. I was intrigued to find out more about the Scottish hammer throw especially and the wide range of people that participate in the games and it is not just restricted to strong men as in many of the games outside of Scotland. Very interesting read.
